On June 16, OSD, in collaboration with the Nifas Silk Sub-City Office of Women, Children, and Social Affairs, commemorated the Day of the African Child. The event marked the 36th Africa-level observance and the 35th anniversary of the Day of the African Child in Ethiopia.The celebration brought together stakeholders, community representatives, and children to reflect on the importance of promoting and protecting children's rights. The event highlighted this year's focus on creating a safe and clean environment for all children, emphasizing the need to ensure that every child has access to a secure, healthy, and supportive environment where they can grow, learn, and reach their full potential.Participants reaffirmed their commitment to working collaboratively to advance child rights and improve the well-being of children through continued advocacy, awareness raising, and community engagement.

 

 

The Organization for Social Development (OSD), in partnership with Save the Children International, successfully conducted a two-day training workshop on Voluntarism, Child Rights, and CRC Reporting on May 23–24, 2026, at IVY Hotel in Bishoftu, Ethiopia. The workshop brought together government stakeholders, civil society organizations, child-led representatives, and children to strengthen understanding of volunteerism, child rights, CRC reporting mechanisms, and advocacy planning. The sessions also highlighted key CRC concluding observations and reinforced the importance of meaningful child participation, coordinated advocacy, and stronger protection systems for vulnerable children in Ethiopia.
